Strategic Advice

We provide strategic advice to Welsh Government departments on proposed policies, plans, guidance, assessments and appraisals that affect the historic environment.

We work most closely with Cadw, the historic environment division of Welsh Government, which lies within the Housing, Regeneration and Heritage directorate.

Strategic advice includes:

•  Glastir

•  Advice on national designation

•  World Heritage Site management

•  Tourism strategies

•  Environmental enhancement and regeneration schemes

•  Strategic environmental assessment (SEAs) and sustainability appraisals

•  Transport plans

•  State of the historic environment reports

We provide strategic advice to the local authorities in north-west Wales, on proposed policies, plans, guidance, assessments and appraisals that affect the historic environment.

These include:

•  Local Development Plan ( LDP ) policies

•  Land allocation in development plans

•  Supplementary Planning Guidance (SPGs)

•  Environmental enhancement and regeneration schemes

•  Transport plans

•  Coastal and shoreline management plans

•  Tourism strategies

•  Master-planning and urban design

•  AONB management plans

•  Cultural and community strategies

•  World Heritage Site management

We provide strategic advice to the Natural Resources Wales on Flood risk and catchment management plans.
